27. Gen John3 QUINN (Robert S.2, John1 QUIN) was born in Wrightsboro, Columbia County, GA on 26 January 1790.(155) John died on 12 February 1873 in Eaton, Preble County, OH, at 83 years of age.(156) His body was interred in February 1873 in the Mound Hill Cemetary in Preble County, OH.(157)
He married Mary Ann POTTENGER 19 July 1831 in Butler County, OH.(158) Mary was born on 2 January 1804 in Butler County, OH.(159) Mary died on 26 February 1873 in Eaton, Preble County, OH, at 69 years of age.(160) John Quinn moved with his father from Georgia to Ohio when he was about sixteen years old. He served six months as a sergeant in the War of 1812 under the command of Captain J.C.Hawkins of the Ohio militia. He obtained his honorary title of "General" by being elected general of the militia of Preble County about 1824. He served on the state board of equalization of real estate and was sheriff of Preble County between 1830 and 1 January 1835. He was elected to the Ohio house of representatives in 1837. He was a Whig and Republican and an elder in the Church of Christ. He and his wife retired from their farm in 1872 to live with their son, Robert W., in Eaton where they both died, two weeks apart, in 1873. Their funeral discourse was delivered by Elder Levi Purviance who had married them 42 years earlier.

108 i. Thomas Pottenger4 QUINN < was born in Eaton, Preble County, OH on 6 July 1832.(161) Thomas died on 24 July 1854 in Eaton, Preble County, OH, at 22 years of age.(162) His body was interred Mound Hill Cemetary in Preble County, OH.(163) in Mound Hill Cemetary.
Thomas graduated from Farmer's College in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, OH Law circa 1853.(164) He died of cholera while pursuing his law degree. Thomas Quinn died of cholera while pursuing his law studies.

110 iii. John Willet QUINN < was born in Eaton, Preble County, OH on 25 July 1838.(165) John died on 28 April 1862 in Monterey, WV, at 23 years of age during the Civil War of typhoid fever.(166) His body was interred after 1865 in the Mound Hill Cemetary in Preble County, OH.(167) Conflicting evidence states that John was born in 1837 in Preble County, OH.(168) John served and died during the Civil War with the 75th Ohio Vol Infantry.(169) John Willet Quinn entered the 75th Ohio Volunteer Infantry in 1861 and died of typhoid.

Samuel Milton QUINN < was born in Twin Township, Preble County, OH on 5 February 1844.(170) Samuel died on 2 September 1914 at 70 years of age.(171) His body was interred in September 1914 in the Eaton Cemetary in Eaton, Preble County, OH.(172) Samuel graduated from Farmer's College in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, OH with a degree in Law circa 1865.(173) Samuel was an Attorney in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, OH.(174) Samuel Milton Quinn who served for a short time in the army, studied law with his brother Robert in Eaton, later pursued a course in the Cincinnati Law College and was a practicing attorney at the Cincinnati bar.
