357. Cyrus⁷ PACKARD (Deacon Barnabas⁶, John⁵, Zacheus⁴, Samuel³, George², Moses¹) was born in Bridgewater, Plymouth County, MA on 26 February 1771.⁽¹²¹⁷⁾ Cyrus died on 9 July 1825 in Perinton, Monroe County, NY, at 54 years of age.⁽¹²¹⁸⁾

From the 'Yates' papers, as referenced in "Early Settlers of Perinton, NY": "Cyrus' great grandfather John Packard built the first mill in North Bridgewater, Mass 100 years before Cyrus built one in Egypt (NY). His father Barnabas, in the fall of 1791, came to the new settlement being made in western New York and purchased 640 acres in township 12 paying 18 3/4 cents an acre. (Range 3, Macedon?). Barnabas did not settle here as he was then a man 54 years old, but returned to his home in Cummington, Mass. The following year, on the 12th of December, three of his sons, Bartimius, Cyrus, and John, started from Cummington with an ox team to make the journey to Township 12 (3rd range, Macedon) and were six weeks on the way, arriving February 22, 1793. Bartimeus remained in Macedon, John went to Michigan in the early thirties and Cyrus came to Egypt where he settled in 1805, and where he was the most prominent, enterprising and influential man of this section. At the first town meeting he was elected justice of the peace, supervisor, and inspector of schools. Cyrus Packard and Thomas Ramsdell were the largest landowners and most successful farmers in this locality. In 1815 Cyrus Packard built and ran a grist mill in 1815. He also had a store in Egypt with his son-in-law Watson".
